My main goal throughout these covers was to use a different medium of art and style for each piece. Vector art for The Odyssey, photography for Leaves Of Grass and a digitally painted look for The Martian Chronicles.
I also wanted each cover to focus heavily on big typography for the front cover.
From here we were tasked in fleshing out one of the illustrations a little more with mockups and a short video animation. The first cover, Leaves of Grass was shot in my backyard using a red string along with some leaves and grass I gathered to form the cover.
My next cover for The Martian Chronicles, I focused heavily on using textures to create the dry and dusty atmosphere of the Mars setting against the futuristic type.
Finally for The Odyssey, I created illustrations of Odysseus legendary fight with the Cyclops Polyphemus and used a heavy vector texture to show the gritty nature of it. I also chose this as the subject of my motion piece.
This was my first ever attempt at motion graphics and using After Effects. This part of the project was what initially got me interested in motion graphics and pushed me to get better.
