Disability in Publishing is an organization dedicated to supporting disabled people in the US book publishing industry. I was approached by the organization to create a new logo for them.
The client wanted something inspired by the Greek God Hephaestus, god of metallurgy and volcanos. We eventually settled on the idea of a volcano and tying it in with the shape of a book in a tent position

Initial logo ideas

Color options with descriptions

Early iterations featured the symbol inside the letter D with a more fun font.
Eventually we settled for a more simple font chosen based on high readability from those with dyslexia.
The organization also opted for red in the design to represent lava and a bold passion for their mission.
